Apple Introduces iPhone OS 3.0: Developer’s Side

Just recently, Apple held a special media event to present its forthcoming iPhone OS 3.0, the next side of the world’s most superior and sophisticated mobile platform, for its iPod touch and iPhone mobile devices. There was absolutely a glimpse of over 100 new and anticipated functions such as Bluetooth connectivity, push functionality, cut, copy and paste, MMS, universal Spotlight search and A2DP. In addition to its ground-breaking features, Apple also highlighted the superb offers of improvements and new additions of the much-awaited next-generation mobile OS.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Marketing Manager for iPod and iPhone, pointed some remarkable details with reference to the iPhone OS environment which was very bankable to the market, even allowing iPhones and iPod touches equipped with such Operating System to be sold very rapidly in the last two years. Senior Vice President of iPhone Software Engineering, Scott Forstall, on the other hand, particularized that developers are now presented with one of the iPhone OS 3.0 improvements which is the App and Developer Functionality that hits off with an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) with over 1,000 absolutely new APIs. This improvement is designed to be of assistance to developers in order for them to craft splendid apps and to allow them to have a certified line of attack to put on the market extra content in a straight line from an app. Devices will also be able to border hardware accessories unswervingly to their application and with the help of another feature of the iPhone OS which is the Maps, developers will also be able to generate apps that can call out and embed Google Maps functionality in their applications with complete interactions. This must be a Herculean torch of triumph for locality-based bits and pieces.

Also jam-packed within the App and Developer Functionality of the iPhone OS is the peer-to-peer connectivity via Bluetooth and Bonjour support. Apple has affirmed that there is totally no necessity for complex pairing, that is to say, this astonishing feature will tolerate apps to be in touch with each other and turn over information. This feature is ideal for gaming and other info-swapping because this permits multi-user interaction and head-to-head gameplay without even having the need for a WiFi network. Moreover, the devices will be able to link up with external peripherals plugged in to the dock connecter via a standard protocol. The interaction or the communication can also be facilitated via Bluetooth, this will be a future evident advantage and use for wireless headphones.

Also included in the App and Developer Functionality of the iPhone OS 3.0 is the long-promised push notification functionality that was intended to arrive on the scene in the iPhone OS 2.0 update. Apple admits that they are behind the schedule on this one. They explained that they had to complete reconstructing the server for push notifications. This service will be made available to all developers. Its work is to preserve a relentless IP connection to the phone and consents a third party server to chime Apple’s notification server, by means of text, badge or sound notification. Apple’s server then pushes the notification to the user’s iPhone. Apple stated that the service will maintain performance, preserve battery life, and labor over cellular or WiFi. Streaming audio and video, together with in-game voice use, can be included by developers in this functionality.

An iPhone OS 3.0 software beta and the updated SDK are accessible today for the members of the iPhone Dev Program. The iPhone OS 3.0 will be available for the users this summer as a free-of-charge update for all of the iPhone 3G customers, including the original iPhone. Though some features won’t be available on the iPhone first gen, such as the A2DP and stereo Bluetooth. Furthermore, the iPod touch, unfortunately, will have to pay $9.95 to upgrade in order to avail of the update.

Beauty is an art. And being able to capture beauty in its most majestic state is something that every individual would wish to at least accomplish in their own little way. Photographs can be used in many ways such as in business, lifestyle, science, art or just for plain pleasure.

We have witnessed the evolution of mobile phones throughout the years, from 1985 till present. It has produced a certain kind of nostalgia that has kept mobile phone addicts hungry for more! Starting with Nokia’s 1100 that sold billions in Nigeria because of its main feature of being dust-proof ending with the most popular Nokia N95 and Apple’s Iphone.

The public at large have always been on the watch for the newest and hottest gadget to own at this point in the century. From being contented with mobile phone equipped with built-in cameras to mind-boggling dilemma of which mobile phone can take really quality images.

Not surprisingly, when Apple launched its Iphone 3G last June of 2007, it was greeted warmly by hype and long lines at any of the Apple outlets. Those who have bothered to sacrifice lining up for this gadget have been impressed by its dramatic cellular data access and software updates.

The Apple Iphone camera features are unimaginably impressive from that of an ordinary camera phone because of its 2 megapixel capability, fabulous image management software, its ability to sync with images on your computer set and the fact that you are able to send those images to your friends over the web! Although its 2 megapixel ability is not that hot in terms of quality, it is way better than the basic 1.3 megapixels image management software that many camera phones have which usually have only the ability to review, delete and save images. And despite this fact, it is still included on the top 10 list of camera phones sold on the market.

Among the high-end software features that the Iphone is capable of are the playlist-like galleries of images based on the subject, the ability to crop and send changes on the phone’s right on-screen, using the photos as wallpaper and send them through email to friends or just assign them to a phonebook contact. And instead of squinting at tiny images, the 3.5 inch display screen actually allows you to see your photos on-screen.

One of its key features is also its capability to sync with your computer to be able to move images into the phone. With its choices for storage capability 4GB, 8GB and 16 GB, you can actually hold a decent number of images especially if the captures are not from a high-end camera or images that have been resized. Images can also be shared not only through SMS or MMS Text Messaging but instead, through several mail options. An on-screen keyboard is also available for typing messages. Among the POP email accounts with email services are Yahoo! Mail, Microsoft Exchange, Apple Mac Mail, AOL Mail and Google Mail respectively.
